ANNUAL CHAMBER EVENTS
The Chamber holds The Christmas in the Valley Craft Fair the first Saturday in December at Mountain Valley High School. Crafters from all over Maine display their wares during the Christmas season. This fair has 56-63 crafters and is a juried craft fair so everything is either hand-made or home-made. This is a craft fair not to be missed. Sign up today to be part of the fair.
The Christmas in the Valley Parade is slated for Dec.9th. Registration form will be available late October.

Christmas in the Craft Fair December 2nd
Christmas in the Valley in the River Valley kick off the holiday festivities with the Christmas in the Valley Craft Fair on Dec. 2nd.
On Saturday, Dec. 2nd, the Christmas in the Valley Craft Fair sponsored by the River Valley Chamber of Commerce takes place at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford from 9-2pm. 56 crafters and 7 home-based businesses will feature their crafts and wares. $1 donation at the door will help provide food baskets for families of high school kids @ Mountain Valley High.
Come early to pick up your holiday cookies at the always popular Cookie Walk where over 70 dozen will be on hand. The Kid’s Corner, under the supervision of a young adult’s group will run from 10-1pm. The children can come and play games.
Need a great Christmas gift? A Longaberger basket filled with gift certificates/cards from local merchants is the new raffle item. Raffle tickets are $1 for one or 6 for $5. These tickets will be available at the Christmas in the Valley table located near the door as you enter the gym. Proceeds from this go to the scholarship funds for Mountain Valley High & Dirigo High. Stop by the Christmas in the Valley booth to buy your tickets.
Don’t forget to get your tickets for the Chinese Auction where each crafter present will donate one of their wares to be raffled off to one of you very lucky people.
As always, the kitchen will be stocked with breakfast and lunch menu items so plan on having breakfast and lunch with us at the fair.

The River Valley Chamber of Commerce and Mexico Firemen’s Relief Association are pleased to announce that they will be hosting the Annual Easter Egg Hunt once again on April 15, 2017.
The Annual Easter Egg Hunt is held the Saturday before Easter Sunday. The River Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Mexico Firemen’s Relief Association to fill 200 baskets for kids ages 2-7. The goodies for the baskets are provided by area businesses, organizations and individuals with a $10 donation. All are welcome to contribute to this wonderful event.
The volunteers hide the eggs behind the Mexico Fire Station. The brigades are stuffed full of parents and children waiting to find their egg. At 9am sharp, the fire whistle is blown and children, parents and grandparents are all searching for their egg. Limit ONE EGG per child please.
We encourage you to participate by sponsoring a basket for $10. We are very thankful for all our volunteers and sponsors ~ they are the ones that make this event a success!

At the Chamber’s Annual Dinner on April 27th, 2017 (4) four awards will be presented honoring achievements and contributions made by Chamber members and community leaders in the River Valley area. The awards are as follows:

Customer Service of the Year
Non-Profit/Community Service Leadership Award
The Chamber is now soliciting nominations for these awards. Those interested in helping in the selection of nominations should return their nomination letter to The Chamber by Mar. 17th, 2017.
Business Person/Business of the Year– This award recognizes a businessperson or business, which has made significant investments in supporting the region’s economic growth, expanded employment opportunities through the establishment of a new business or business expansion or has set a new leadership standard for business innovation and quality.
Volunteer of the Year– This award recognizes individual or group efforts, which have made significant contributions in the quality of life or the enhancement of community or regional assets. It also recognizes accomplishments achieved through non-profit organizations, public sector committees, or businesses.
Customer Service Award– This award recognizes a business whose employees have gone beyond the call of duty to provide outstanding customer service in the River Valley area.
Non-Profit/Community Service Leadership Award– This award recognizes a group effort which has made a significant contribution in the enhancement of community or regional involvement in the River Valley area.
